It has been reported by The Guardian that London Marathon is seriously considering a 'Double London Marathon' for 2027.
Race organisers London Marathon Events are understood to be negotiating with partners to stage a 2-day London Marathon, provisionally scheduled for the weekend of 24 - 25 April. Effectively doubling the capacity of the race, this will allow up to approximatley 112,000 runners to run the iconic event. Planned as a unique one-off occasion, it is also expected to provide a boost to charities and help elevate London's social and economic status.
Many questions come to mind about how they will organise each day's event. We've heard more than once that they may have the elite men and elite women running on separate days. Another possibility is to have a novices / first timers race on the Saturday, with the Sunday race being reserved for the elites and faster runners. Whatever they decide, it'll be quite unique.
