The White Peak Marathon race was the idea of Dave Mitchell, an original member of Matlock A.C., and was first run in 1977. There is also a White Peak Half Marathon.

White Peak Marathon Route
Marathon runners follow the traditional 26 mile route from Thorpe to Cromford Meadows following first the Tissington Trail to Parsley Hay, then the High Peak Trail to Cromford. Meanwhile the half marathon route follows the High Peak Trail starting at Friden and finishing at Cromford.
