The race starts at Brathay Hall in Clappersgate, on the road outside of the Brathay estate. After running through the village, runners pass Graythwaite Hall, and Lakeside toward the Swan Hotel in Newby Bridge. After crosssng the bridge, the race leads onto the A592 towards Bowness-on-Windermere. Participants continue in the same direction until they reach the junction with the A591, which they follow to Waterhead, Ambleside. At Ambleside runners reach the final stretch of the race turning towards Clappersgate and finally reaching the finaish line back at Brathay Hall.
