The Beijing Marathon was first run in 1980. The race is open to both individuals and teams.

Beijing Marathon Route
The race follows an undulating, urban route. Runners start from Tiananmen Square. From there they quickly head west past the Forbidden City. They then continue north though the city streets until they eventually reach the Olympic Village, reaching the finish line at the Bird's Nest stadium.
