The Jungfrau Marathon, in Interlaken, is a very popular marathon, so much so that it fills up every year and has a long waiting list of hopeful applicants.

Jungfrau Marathon Route
The Jungfrau Marathon is one of the most popular mountain marathons. It was first run in 1993.

The race starts in Interlaken, climbing 5,960 feet (1,823 m) by the time runners reach the finish line at Kleine Scheidegg mountain pass. With few exceptions the race is all uphill. One such exception is the last kilometre which is downhill to the finish line.
