Galway City Marathon Route
Marathon participants ran a two-loop course around the city to complete the required distance, while half-marathon competitors ran one circuit of the course.
The Galway City Marathon route started at Galway Harbour, heading out along the side of Lough Atalia. It then turned onto the old Dublin Road towards Bon Secours Hospital
and then into Renmore, following the outskirts until reaching Ballybane Road. The route then continued on to the Monivea Road towards Moneenagheisa and through Bohermore,
into Eyre Square in the City centre.
The route then proceeded along Eglinton Street, taking runners over the Salmon Weir Bridge and running past the
Cathedral and University before joining the Seamus Quirke Road. At the crossroads with Threadneedle Road, it took a right and navigates around the Galway Golf Course
by way of Knocknacarra Cross. It then joined the Salthill promenade at Blackrock and ran towards South Park and the Claddagh.
