The Galway Bay Run Marathon is part of the Galway Bay Run event which describes itself as "breathtaking, amazing, spectacular, friendly and fun".
It frequently receives excellent feedback, boasting a course that straddles the quaint Latin Quarter of Galway City, the famous Claddagh Quay and the stunningly
scenic coast road with views across the Atlantic waters of Galway Bay.
There is also a half marathon as well as a 10k race.
Galway Bay Run Marathon Route
The marathon starts on Nimo's Pier at the Claddagh. From there, runners follow two laps around 'South Park'
before running along the closed road through the heart of Salthill as far as the Barna Road junction, continuing on
along the back of the Golf Club and the promenade back to the Claddagh. Nearing the end of the race there is another three laps of Salthill
before runners head back to the finish at the Claddagh.
The course is very flat and fast, so is ideal for runners looking to make a PB attempt.
