The Budapest Marathon is enjoyed by thousands of runners including relay teams of 3 or 5, many of whom
come from abroad. Great crowd support can be expected, creating an atmosphere that rivals London and Berlin Marathons.
Budapest Marathon Route
The race begins in Heroes Square in the City Park. Runners then head down Andrassy Avenue, over the famous 'Chain bridge', and southwards along the embankments of the Danube. At the 10K mark the route crosses the Petofi Bridge onto the east bank. From there runners race northwards to Margaret Bridge and on to Margaret's Island and over Arpad Bridge to the west bank once more where they quickly reach the half way point
The last 13 miles. The route loops round, heading south along the west bank until runners again reach the Petofi Bridge. Back on the east
bank, the race directs runners northwards to Kossuth Square. From there athletes are pointed eastwards past Nyugati Square, Allatkert Promenade and
Heroes Square. Finally, runners pass along Paal Laszlo Street and onto Olof Palme Promenade where the reach the finish line and end of their fantastic journey.
