Vancouver International Marathon

The Vancouver Marathon was first run in 1972. Tom Howard of Surrey, British Columbia ran five laps of Stanley Park with a small number of marathon runners to complete the first Vancouver International Marathon. Howard won with in a time of 2:24:35.


The Route
The Vancouver Marathon is run on a paved spectator-friendly course.

Participants start on Pacific Boulevard on the south side of British Columbia Place Stadium. Runners head out and back again in the inner harbour of False Creek, into Strathcona and onto the impressively forested Stanley Park. They then leave the park at English Bay, over the Burrard Street Bridge towards the spectator-filled cafe, beaches and beautiful homes of Kitsilano, before finally reaching the finish line back at British Columbia Place Stadium.
