San Francisco Marathon Route
Runners start outside the Embarcadero at Mission Street. After heading past the renovated Ferry Building and Food Mart, some San Francisco icons will come into such as the Transamerica Building, Coit Tower and Pier 39. Next, sea lions will be heard cheering you on as the route moves on to Fisherman's Wharf.

Running past San Francisco Bay, you will catch the smell of the salt water in Aquatic Park. And as you race through Fort Mason and up McDowell Drive, you will be met by the spectacular views of the City by the Bay.

Continuing along the Marina, where the course passes along next to private yachts and multi- million dollar homes. Entering the Presidio, you run past the restored wetlands and Crissy Field. Next you will run on to a view of thw beautiful San Francisco Bay begore making your way to the Golden Gate Bridge.

Crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, runners will be shown an view of the city's unforgettable skyline. Entering Marin County, the route loops around returning back across the Golden Gate Bridge.

Returning to the Presidio, you will cruise towards Sea Cliff. Descending into Lincoln Blvd., you will then make your way through the Richmond District, into Golden Gate Park. before running by Spreckels Lake. Next, around Stow Lake and back to onto the city streets, passing by the Rose Garden and a final glimpse at the Conservatory of Flowers.

Begining the journey back, you will run through the renowned Haight Ashbury District and through the latino Mission District. past the Potrero District and into the developing Mission Bay/China Basin District.

The race's final stretch takes runners along the promenade behind AT&T Park, home of baseball's San Francisco Giants. They will then pass under the Bay Bridge onto Cupid's Arrow and the the finish line, finishing by the waterfront on the Embarcadero at Folsom, 2 blocks south of the start line.
