The Richmond Marathon, sometimes known as "America's Friendliest Marathon" was first run in 1977.
Richmond Marathon Route
The race is a loop, starting and finishing in historic downtown Richmond. Runners pass through all of the city's old neighbourhoods.
On the way the run up Monument Avenue, passing by the statues of Confederate soldiers and Richmond-born tennis star Arthur Ashe then
through Virginia Commonwealth University campus and along the side of the James River. The race ends with a last mile that includes a fast
downhill slope to the finish line.

* Entry Fee : $75 (until 30 Jun), $85 (until 30 Sep), $95 (until 11 Nov)
* Registration Deadline : November 11
* Charity Places : Runners are advised to contact their chosen charity
