Montreal Marathon Route
The race starts at the Jacques-Cartier Bridge. Runners head towards and past the La Ronde amusement park. They then head past the Biosphere and around the outside of Gilles-Villeneuve Circuit, home of the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix. This takes runners to approximately the 10km point before crossing the River Saint-Laurent. Next, the route takes athletes through downtown Montreal. They pass the Notre Dame Basilique in the old town before passing the The Holocaust Commemorative Museum at Cote Ste. Catherine on the way to the half-way stage.

Past the 13 mile/21km stage, runners head past the Galerie d'art Leonard et Bina Ellen on Maisonneuve West. They continue on, passing Parc Lafaontainne. From there the route carries on northwards, then eastwards reaching the Botanical Gardens just after the 37km point. From their the finish line is in site. The remaining 5km circles round the gardens, guiding runners in towards the Olympic Stadium where they finish their 26 miles in the splendour of the Olympic venue.
