Eisenhower Marathon Route
The marathon route follows 26 miles through the streets of Abilene. It follows the Chisholm Trail, used in the early 19th century by Texas cattlemen bringing their herds to Abilene for shipment, by rail to the eastern States.

The association with Dwight Eisenhower comes from Ike having grown up in the tow. Runners start and end the race on Buckeye Avenue across from the Eisenhower Center which is a mere 100 yards from the ex-President's Boyhood Home.
